Willow Rise Counselling

Therapeutic Counselling

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, but it can also be exciting. It often opens the way to new insights, personal growth, and different ways of connecting with yourself and the world around you, enabling you to live the life you strive for.

I offer a space where you can set things down, be listened to with care and without judgement and begin to make sense of your experiences. I’ll sit with you in any uncertainty and support you as you reconnect with your own strength and resilience as you face life’s challenges.

About Me

I have always been drawn to helping others and to being a good listener. Through many years of working in caring roles, I’ve come to recognise that my greatest strengths lie in my human and life skills: truly hearing a person - not only their words, but what may lie beneath them - offering empathy without judgement, and being genuinely present as they navigates their own path.

I gained my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling through Step by Step Counselling, with training in an integrative approach. This means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches rather than working from a single model, allowing me to tailor our work together to your unique needs, experiences, and circumstances, while remaining grounded in a person-centred foundation.

My approach is shaped by both professional training and lived experience of health challenges. While these experiences do not define my work, they have deepened my understanding of how complex, overwhelming, and personal emotional struggles can feel. They inform the care, compassion, and non-judgement I bring to my practice.

I truly believe that everyone has the capacity within themselves to reach their full potential, achieve their goals and live a profound, fulfilling life. My ambition is to support those who feel stuck or overwhelmed, helping them piece things together so they can move forward with clarity and purpose. I recognise that the modern world can be challenging to navigate, with pressures that often pull us away from ourselves. I believe that becoming our true, authentic selves requires us to pause, step back from the noise, and reflect on what truly matters to us. By reconnecting with ourselves, we can find direction and begin to live in a way that feels genuine and meaningful.

I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) which is the largest professional body representing counselling and psychotherapy in the UK. Also National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) Accredited.

You can view my registered status' on the BACP and NCPS website. Being members of these awarding bodies demonstrates that my credentials and fitness to practice have been checked and approved. I also have a full and valid DBS check certificate.

Taking the first step

Starting therapy can be full of 'what ifs', particularly 'what if we don't click?' or 'what if their approach doesn't work for me?'

To make it easier, I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can get to know me a bit and we can address any worries before you decide.

If this service is not for you, that's fine! I can help you find somewhere that is.

Available online or in-person from my Torquay Counselling room.
